They Met on a Bus. Winnie & Willis’ Engagement Session

April 8th, 2011

With every couple that I shoot, I’m lucky enough to make new friends through it all.  I can’t help but get excited when people get married.  So when two friends decide to tie the knot, and I get asked to be part of their day as a photographer.  It’s pretty awesome! What an honour!

Meet Willis & Winnie - they met at school, learning to teach school.  It’s a “perfect timing” kind of story, because despite going to all the same schools growing up, even studying the same things in university, then graduating in the ceremony…  it wasn’t till they both were studying to be teachers that their paths finally crossed.

Winnie explains it as Willis not walking fast enough to catch the early bus. So they shared a ride back home from school… getting to know each other better…  the sparks came later.

When you hear about their first “date”.  It’s a story like so many can relate to where a group outing unexpectedly turns into a one-on-one because everyone else can’t make it.  It was fright nights at the PNE followed by 3 hours of chatting at Tim Hortons.  How awesome is that… I’m sure most of us can relate. and the sparks started the fire that’s still burning.

When deciding on locations, Winnie and Willis choose to do their photos in Queen Elizabeth Park, after all, it’s where Willis proposed and there’s a story behind it.  I love stories!

It was such a blast shooting them, they were such naturals at everything.  They made my job easy!

I can’t wait till their wedding this August!

We had to spend some time where Willis proposed.

I told them that I’d count to 3 and they had to make a face for me.  They wouldn’t know what the other did till they got the photo.  1, 2, 3… :)

I just love this shot. :)
